Takiyasha's Skeleton Spectre Ukiyo-e Poster

A restored print of Utagawa Kuniyoshi's famous woodblock from around 1844, in which the sorceress Princess Takiyasha calls up a giant skeleton spectre in the ruined palace at Sōma to terrify the warrior Ōya no Tarō Mitsukuni. This poster frames the centre of the original triptych, where the skeleton looms out of the dark over the samurai below. It's printed from a museum scan with the woodblock grain, paper texture and faded Edo-period colours left as they are, and finished with the print's Japanese title, 相馬の古内裏 (The Old Palace at Sōma).
