Saturn Devouring His Son Goya Vintage Gothic Poster
A restored print of Francisco Goya's Saturn Devouring His Son, one of the Black Paintings he painted straight onto the walls of his house outside Madrid between 1819 and 1823. The god Saturn, wild-eyed and terrified of being overthrown, tears into the body of his child. Goya never meant it to be seen in public, which is part of why it is still so shocking. Printed from a reproduction of the painting in the Museo del Prado, with its rough brushwork and near-black background left as they are.
