Short answer: to make a tarot card wall, hang the 22 Major Arcana cards as A5 posters, either in two rows of 11 (about 1.93 m wide) or as The Fool on its own above three rows of seven (about 1.22 m wide). If you have less space, choose three to five cards that mean something to you and print them at A4, or make one card an A3 centrepiece. Posterly Studio UK prints every Rider-Waite-Smith Major Arcana card individually in A5, A4 and A3, with a framed A4 option.
This guide covers which cards to choose, how much wall a full set takes up, and a few layouts that work in bedrooms, reading corners and hallways.
What are the Major Arcana?
A standard tarot deck has 78 cards. The 22 Major Arcana are the named "trump" cards, numbered 0 to XXI in the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, which is the classic deck our designs are based on. They run from The Fool (0) and The Magician (I) through to Judgement (XX) and The World (XXI). Each card has a strong, symbolic image, which is why they work so well as wall art: they're recognisable from across a room, even to people who don't read tarot.

How much wall space does a full set need?
An A5 poster is 148 × 210 mm. With a 3 cm gap between prints, here's what the full Major Arcana takes up:
- Two rows of 11: about 193 cm wide × 45 cm tall. Good above a bed, sofa or long desk.
- The Fool above three rows of seven: about 122 cm wide × 93 cm tall. This follows a popular way of reading the deck, sometimes called "The Fool's journey": The Fool on its own, then cards I–VII, VIII–XIV and XV–XXI.
- A single row of 22: about 3.9 m wide. Only for a long hallway or a stairwell.
At A4 (210 × 297 mm), the same two-row layout grows to roughly 2.6 m wide, so A5 is usually the right size for a complete set. Our poster size guide compares the sizes in more detail.
Which tarot cards look best on a wall?
There's no right answer. If you're not hanging the full set, here are some ideas:
- The Moon, The Sun and The Star work as a celestial trio, which suits bedrooms.
- The High Priestess and The Empress make a calm pair for a reading corner.
- Wheel of Fortune has a busy, circular composition, so it holds a wall well on its own.
- Death and The Tower are bold, dramatic picks for alt or gothic décor.
- Your birth card, or a card from a meaningful reading, is a personal choice that guests will ask about.
Layouts for smaller spaces
- Three-card row at A4: three A4 prints with 5 cm gaps take up about 73 cm across. That's the classic "past, present, future" spread on your wall.
- A3 centrepiece: one A3 card (297 × 420 mm) with an A5 card either side, top-aligned or centred.
- Desk or shelf: a single framed A4 leaning on a shelf needs no drilling.
Framing and hanging
Our posters are printed in the UK on 250gsm matte paper, so there's no glare from lamps or screens. Unframed prints ship flat in protective bubble envelopes, ready for your own frames, clips or washi tape. If you'd rather not frame them yourself, choose the Medium (A4) Framed option on any card. Frames are only included when you select that option.
For a grid, measure and mark the wall before you start. Hang the top-left card first, then use a spirit level or a strip of masking tape as a guide for each row.
Ordering a full A5 set
We sell each card as its own listing rather than as a single bundle. To build the full Major Arcana in A5, add each card to your basket and choose Small (A5) each time. You can also mix sizes in one order, such as A5 for most cards and A3 for one centrepiece. UK delivery is free on orders £20+ (after discounts) and £2.99 under £20, orders are dispatched within 1–2 working days, and delivery typically takes 2–4 working days after dispatch.
